Envy, jealousy, and crab mentality will be our nemesis. If you think it's easy to get into eb1 then why waste your time? At least this category gives some incentive to progress in life. Why rock this boat?
No dear friend...what if you are already inside this country and waiting for 10 years. Even if you become a manager in these companies, you wont be eligible as you had to have at least one year outside the country. So progressing not going to help. How about a person who is less qualified, less experienced getting GC in six months when you wait for 5-10 years. Its not about jealous, its about fairness and justice. Dont bring in EB2-EB3 here. We are all in this sh*&t togather.

This thread falls off the radar so quickly and other threads with EAD, AP, H-1B etc. keep popping up every second. I know all those things are important as well but if you pause and think about the big picture, this funding drive is very important as well. So, please buck up and contribute! :)

Do you know any employer or recruiting agency (in NY) who can help sponsoring physical therapists for 140 & 485.
I got a NY work permit and got my crdentials evaluated but unfortunately that emplyer is no longer having job vacancy. Now I am stuck and don't know if I can get benefit from some other employer.
Any input would be greatly helpful.

My Wife's H1B is expiring in 30 days. We had filed for extension 15 days back and are waiting under regular processing. I contacted local DMV employee( whom I know personally) and he contacted their legal dept in Sacramento to see if we can extend DL based on extension recipt and the answer has come back that we cannot!
Anyone recently extended their DL based on extension notice in CA? If so which DMV is advisable in the bay area? Thanks

Last week my lawyer has asked for copy of Driving License of me and my wife for filing the H1-B and H4 extension.
Then one of my friend told me that INS is asking for copy of the driving license for filing the h1-B extension.
My employer is supposed to file my 3 year Extension based on I-140 in Dec this year( Dec 2007) but my Licences expires on Sept 2008, So I will I be just getting the extension till Sept 2008 and Not 3 year extension.
Any Idea on that
I have already submitted my driving license to my lawyer.
Please Let me know because I was couting on that I will get 3 year extension this time.
Ask your lawyer why the driver's license is required? Passport is an accepted form of identification. Either your lawyer is ignorant(time to get a new lawyer?) - or he is taking you for a ride (he will milk you/ your employer for more money when extension time will come again).

But this generally applies to people affected by retrogression. If one isn't affected by retrogression, applies for I-140 after 5/15/2007 and gets green card before 10/1/2008 (which is possible) then that person should be ok, is that right?
My guess is that while processing the I-485, they will check the filing date for the I-140. If it was filed before May 15th 2007 and the PD is current, they will process it. If it was filed after May 15th 2007, then they won't process the I-485 since the I-140 is invalid.

My heart jumps with joy, but my brain still caution the heart to wait for the official visa bulletin at DOS/USCIS website. USCIS has a trend of "correcting" the visa bulletin. Nevertheless, if the dates are really what they are published at Mumbai site, its a time for us to be happy.
EB2 looks promising, but in this moment of joy lets not forget our friends in EB3 category. Anyone whose priority date is current, please don't just move forward with your joy, and continue to support IV and our initiatives to help legal immigrants. We have suffered so much because the folks who came prior to us never bothered to support legal immigration, once they got their their GC. Please remember that after GC/Citizenship, our status in this nation as a minority group depends on how active we are socially/politically.

May be yes....applying greencard is required to extend the H1...having said that one has to spend huge money in applying for GC...at the same time one can also stay out of US for an year and come back if required...
well the reasons are many...and all seems to be valid...
I agree having 1 crore is sort of middle class..especially with the real estate boom in Hyderabad..you won't get a two bedroom flat in a decent area unless you pay around 20 lakhs...
on a lighter note...1 crore is just simple....for the people over there...for example my father retired in early 2004 and spent his retirement money to buy a two bedroom apartment and a small piece of land (about 10 lakhs in total)...now the apartment itself costs about 11 lakhs and land costs about another 14 lakhs.........earning/saving of about 15 lakhs in 3 years....how many of us could do that ;)
